【摘要】:Thethicknessofacoatingisoftencriticaltoitsperformance.Thismagneticmethodissuitableformeasuringnondestructivelythethicknessofsomenickelcoatingsandforspecificationacceptance.Thismethodrequiresthatthemagneticpropertiesofthecoatinganditssubstratebethesameasthoseofthereferencestandardsusedforthecalibrationadjustmentoftheinstrument.5.3Thismethodshouldnotbeusedtodeterminethethicknessofautocatalyticallydepositednickel-phosphorusalloyscontainingmorethan8%phosphorusonsteel.ThosecoatingsaresufficientlynonmagneticforTestMethodB499tobesuitableforthatdetermination,aslongasthemeasurementismadepriortoanyheattreatment.1.1Thistestmethodcoverstheuseofmagneticinstrumentsforthenondestructivemeasurementofthethicknessofanelectrodepositednickelcoatingoneitheramagneticornonmagneticsubstrate.Itisintendedtosupplementmanufacturersx2019;instructionsfortheoperationoftheinstrumentsandisnotintendedtoreplacethem.1.2Theseinstrumentsmeasureeitherthemagneticattractionbetweenamagnetandthecoating-substratecombination(categorizedasx201C;magneticpull-offx201D;),orthechangeinmagneticfluxdensitywithintheprobe(categorizedasx201C;electronicx201D;).1.3Forthistestmethod,therearetwotypesofcoating-substratecombinationsthatcanbeencountered:TypeA,nickelcoatingsonamagneticsubstrate,andTypeB,nickelcoatingsonanonmagneticsubstrate.1.4Theeffectivemeasuringrangesofinstrumentsusingtheprincipleofmagneticattractionareupto50x03BC;m(2mils)forTypeAcoatings,andupto25x03BC;m(1mil)forTypeBcoatings.Forgagesbasedonchangeinmagneticfluxdensityprinciples,theeffectiverangesaremuchgreater,andmeasurementsupto1mm(40mils)ormore,canbemadeonbothtypesofcoatings.1.5MeasurementsmadeinaccordancewiththistestmethodwillbeincompliancewiththerequirementsofISOStandard2361asprintedin1982.1.6ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.7Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
